HVAC/Sheet Metal Pre-apprentice Full Time

Corn States Metal Fabricators is a family owned HVAC and sheet metal shop located in the Valley Junction area of West Des Moines, IA.  We are currently looking for new team members to work in our shop and on job sites assisting our sheet metal mechanics.  This opportunity could easily turn into a great earning career in the sheet metal business.

Job Title:  HVAC/Sheet Metal Pre-Apprentice

Reports to:  Field/Shop foreman

Pay:  $15.00/hr

Work Hours:  7:00-3:30 Monday through Friday, Summer hours can move to 6:00-2:30.

Job Description:  Assist the sheet metal journeymen with general construction work including cleaning the work area, loading/unloading vehicles, construction fabrications, cutting, measuring, assembling, insulating, etc.  All training will be done on the job.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic knowledge of tools.
• Safe use of ladders.
• Comply with all safety rules.
• Know how to read and use a tape measure.
• Be on time and work the full day.
• Able to carry 50 pounds.
• Demonstrate willingness to learn and work hard.
• Stay on task and be self-motivated.
• Able to pass pre-employment drug test.
• Willing to work indoors and outdoors.
• Basic math knowledge.
• Willingness to follow directions.
